Dog Whisperer.   I can't recommend Alasdair enough! Over the past year, he worked wonders with our wee Tobi, and the transformation has been incredible. Not only did he help Tobi become well-behaved and responsive, but he also empowered me as an owner

When Tobi was a puppy, he escaped twice, which left me anxious and lacking confidence in letting him off-leash. On top of that, running my business from home and managing a busy schedule made it challenging to focus on his training—especially potty training in the garden, which was a struggle at first

Alasdair tackled these issues head-on, providing practical and tailored guidance. He not only trained Tobi but also helped me feel confident in his progress. Now, I can comfortably let him off-leash during walks and playtime at the park, knowing he’ll stay safe and come back when called.

 Highly Recommended for Naughty Sausages Thank goodness we got in touch with Dogs and Pups. Having Alasdair come to work with our 8 year old mini dachshund was the best thing ever. Lola was a tad problematic, a bark sausage and apanicky one when out and about encountering other dogs, particularly large black ones. Also panicking when there was someone behind us. After only 2 sessions Lola was so much better and after 4 was a much calmer dog and we were also much calmer and happier to take her out. It went from a nerve-racking embarrassing dog walk to pleasurable for us and Lola. I would highly recommend getting in touch with Dogs and Pups for any dog issues, Alasdair was great with Lola and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend o get back in touch if needed.

 Total game-changer Alistair has honestly been a game-changer for us. Our 2-year-old border terrier used to be super anxious and reactive, barking and growling at other dogs, while our 10-year-old was so stubborn he wouldn’t go beyond his usual 10-minute walk. Walking them together was nearly impossible, constantly avoiding other dogs and trying to train the younger one. But Alistair’s approach was so calm, simple, and effective. You can really tell he understands dog behavior inside and out. Now, instead of stressful walks, we’re enjoying long, relaxing ones, and we don’t have to dodge other dogs anymore. It's been amazing, and the world is now our oyster.

 I cannot recommend Alasdair enough. I was struggling with my puppy, Koda, who was constantly pulling on the leash and had little recall. Alasdair was patient and his thoughtful and methodical approach has really changed my walks with Koda.

From the first session, it was clear that Alasdair has a deep understanding of dog behaviour and training techniques. He quickly understood Koda’s personality and tailored the training to suit. The exercises he gave me were practical and easy to follow.

Koda now walks calmly by my side and comes back when called, even in distracting environments.

If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and effective dog trainer, Alasdair is the one to go for.

 Alasdair was outstanding. The best money we’ve spent as dog owners. He showed us how to train our puppy to do the things we wanted her to do, he gave us great tips about what to do when she was doing things we didn’t want and helped us understand what was going on with our puppy and how she was behaving.  Couldn’t recommend Alasdair enough! We have a miniature dachshund who suffered IVDD at an early age and this knocked his confidence a lot making him extremely reactive on walks. He is a transformed dog now. Alasdair taught us to best say to walk Bert and to expose him to new situations to increase his confidence (and mines!).  I called Alasdair to help me learn to control, in public, my rescued Frenchie Dotty. From the start he was reassuring and supportive both to Dotty and myself. He quickly grasped Dottys temperament and was able to provide effective training and within a few months we were able to walk comfortably and confidently around Milngavie. We still have some small flair ups from time to time but with the training Alasdair provided I know how to manage those situations so our days out are no longer ruined

"Like a different dog"

 We worked with Alasdair with our puppy who we had received a little late from the litter and was very energetic. "Tailored training for a special pup"

 I was directed to dogsandpups by a local puppy training class after bringing home an 8 month old, untrained, Wire Fox terrier. Anyone familiar with this breed knows that they have a strong will and quite a lot of energy. This particular dog had spent most of his time being considered for showing and not really trained or socialised. He presented slightly more unusual challenges than most pups, taken on later in life.
Considering that my dog presented a range of issues in light of his past story, the training was tailored and considered to meet his individual training needs.
In addition to reassuring and sound training the service was really convenient and flexible around the dogs requirements and my own busy schedule.
I would definitely recommend dogsandpups to anyone looking for any advice and support, from wanting the best dog in the neighbourhood to just learning to create a workable balance with a highly strung and energetic, notoriously single minded breed of dog..

"Cocker training"

The Best

 5 Stars just isn’t enough to praise Alasdair. He is an expert and complete professional, and put both us and our anxious dog at ease. Cannot believe in just 3 sessions the difference in our 3 year old dog and our confidence in training him. Intuitive and reassuring

 Alasdair was a really great support and helped us with our 2 rescue dogs. One is very anxious, frightened of men and noises, and the other is a large puppy who was pulling on the lead. It was a lot to deal with and Alasdair was very intuitive with both the dogs.

 Alasdair was recommended to us as someone who could help us train our Irish Terrier pup with recall...and he has indeed been brilliant! He has been really helpful, giving us lots of great advice and tips. He observed us interacting with our pup and tailored his advice accordingly. He kept us motivated when we felt like we were sometimes getting nowhere and has always been very encouraging and positive. We now feel confident in letting the dog off the lead to play with other dogs, and her lead walking is much improved too. Alasdair was generous with his time and his fees are lower than most.  When I contacted Alistair, I was a new puppy mum to a cheeky Cocker Spaniel. We'd hit a training wall and I was in complete dispair, not quite sure how to move forward and we were getting more frustrated by the day.  The waiting time for a lesson with Alistair was a few weeks - well worth the wait. By the time we met, pup and I had knuckled down and resolved a lot of the issues we had but there were still a few more to go and that's where Alistair came in.  Our meeting / walk was held somewhere local and working with Alistair gave me immediate ease; he knows his stuff and found the best methods of training for me and puppers. He gave me lots of tips for the specific training points we required and sent me off filled with confidence. I, myself, met with Alistair one more time after this and my partner met with Alistair individually too, so that he could feel more confident with the training we were doing.  I would recommend Alistair to anyone who needs support in dog training

Professional Puppy Guidance 

It was an absolute pleasure to meet Alasdair. Having just added a new puppy to the family (Orla) we were keen to get on track quickly. I contacted Alasdair for a one to one session with our pup as I was struggling to secure a place in puppy classes. Alasdair was great when he came to the house to see our Orla. His advice and instructions were invaluable at this crucial stage and reassured us that we were on track with our training whilst offering additional help and guidance . Needless to say within one day our pup was introduced to two new commands with great success. I would highly recommend Alasdair and I certainly would not hesitate to use him again .

REALLY POSITIVE DOG TRAINING SERVICE! Very professional service from Alasdair over a series of sessions. He crafted a training plan for me to work on with my dog Vince, and we have now overcome the problems we were initially having. VERY EFFECTIVE LEAD TRAINING Alasdair spent two sessions with us and was absolutely fantastic. The first was when my pup was a few weeks old and refused to walk. He helped with this, and gave us general training advice.Today Alasdair helped me with lead training. My now 9 month springer spaniel pulled badly on her lead.  Can’t recommend Alasdair enough. We have had ongoing issues with our 2 rescue labs, with reactivity around other dogs and we were at the point where we were walking them at 5am in the morning, in a bid to avoid other dogs. We’d previously sought help from another trainer & a behaviourist, bought numerous recommended equipment and paid a small fortune in the process! Unfortunately, none of the methods worked. Alasdair came to see our dogs couple of times to ‘get sight’ of what was going on, before our first session and we’ve followed his advice since. In just a few short weeks we were able to walk our dogs, off lead in daylight and they are now happy to interact with other dogs. The training is ongoing and they continue to improve. He’s an honest dog trainer, who will do all he can to help.

 Alasdair’s input was really helpful. His suggestions made a significant difference to my 16 month old dog’s behaviour particularly her recall . Before his input I was struggling to feel I had any influence over her behaviour and really felt she was running the show. I am much more confident in managing her and I feel there has been a shift in the power balance so that she now does what I want rather than the other way round. The Dog Whisperer... game changer

Alasdair worked wonders for us. We have a year old Labradoodle Hugo who was pretty boisterous, pulling on the lead, lunging at runners and cyclists and showing his teeth when we tried to brush him.

After only 2 sessions with Alasdair, we were able to make the changes to turn his behaviour around. It was such a relief and so reassuring to see how Hugo COULD behave, given the appropriate training. He engaged with Alasdair immediately, it was just a matter of us doing the same to get the results. Now we are getting the best from our dog and it is a pleasure walking him... no more stress.

Best money ever spent and fantastic price at that... total game changer! I would highly recommend “The Dog Whisperer” to anyone out there who is having trouble with their stubborn or uncooperative fur baby. Certainly made our lives easier. Can’t thank him enough.

Alasdair was recommended to us having recently got a border terrier puppy and being concerned about recall…..having been warned that borders can be flight risks lol. Alasdair has helped us immensely, his being there when letting her off lead initially gave us the confidence to do it, and with each session her recall improves! Alasdair explains things really well, builds on skills appropriately and makes each session lots of fun for Dusty and us. We confidently now take Dusty out walks off lead (away from roads) and know she will come back to us….and she is still only 7 months! My proud / smug owner moment came when on a park walk with Dusty off lead and always running back to me when called despite a LOT of exciting distractions….a fellow dog owner commented on how well trained she was ❤️ I cannot thank or recommend Alasdair enough!!
